In The Lands Memory

Some Places Remeber Us

Solo Exhibition

In The Land's Memory is a solo exhibition of new paintings and sculptures by E A Zappa, exploring Alaska as both place and presence—vast, resilient, and deeply alive with memory. Through landscapes, coastal scenes, and symbolic imagery, the work reflects the enduring relationship between land, culture, and human experience.

About The Exhibition

Alaska has long existed as a frontier not only of geography, but of spirit. In Alaska: In The Land's Memory, I  present a body of work shaped by travel through Alaska’s interior and coastal regions—places where light, weather, and silence carry as much meaning as form.

The paintings move between observed landscape and symbolic presence. Mountains, harbors, and waterways become vessels of memory and endurance, while figures and cultural references suggest continuity between people and place. Rather than depicting Alaska as untouched wilderness, the work acknowledges a living landscape—one shaped by labor, ancestry, resilience, and time.

Rendered in oil with layered texture and a restrained, atmospheric palette, these works invite slow looking. They ask the viewer to consider land not as backdrop, but as witness—holding stories, grief, strength, and survival within its surface.
